BadaEnergy awards scholarships to UNIST students to cultivate local talents for offshore wind  •        BadaEnergy awarded scholarships to five students at UNIST Graduate School of Technology and Innovation Management for the second semester of 2023•        Since signing an industry-academic cooperation agreement with UNIST in 2021, BadaEnergy has offered scholarships and lectures on offshore wind power technologies and management every semester•        As a part of the university partnership program for the Ulsan floating offshore wind farm, scholarship awardees are also entitled to preferential treatment in internship and employment  2023. 12. 11 – BadaEnergy, a portfolio of offshore wind projects in South Korea jointly developed by Corio Generation, TotalEnergies and SK ecoplant, announced on December 11 that it has awarded scholarships to five students majoring in new and renewable energy technology and innovation management at the UNIST Graduate School of Technology and Innovation Management. Since BadaEnergy, UNIST and Ulsan Metropolitan City signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for industry-university cooperation for the Ulsan floating offshore wind project in 2021, BadaEnergy has granted scholarships and given lectures on offshore wind power technologies and management every semester in an effort to foster future local talents for offshore wind. BadaEnergy selects Hyundai Heavy Industries as the preferred bidder for Ulsan Gray Whale Floating Offshore Wind Project  •        Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has been selected as the preferred bidder for the EPC of the Ulsan Gray Whale 3 floating offshore wind farm being promoted off the coast of Ulsan.•        1.5 GW Gray Whale is expected to be one of the world’s largest floating offshore wind farms once the project’s third phase is completed.•        BadaEnergy relocated its Ulsan office to a larger facility to ensure fast and efficient communication with local municipalities, stakeholders, and supply chains.  [November 7, 2023] BadaEnergy, a portfolio of offshore wind projects in South Korea jointly developed by Corio Generation, TotalEnergies and SK ecoplant, announced on Tuesday that it has selected HHI as the preferred bidder for the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) of its Gray Whale 3 floating offshore wind farm. In August last year, BadaEnergy selected the HHI and Doris Engineering consortium as Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contractor for Gray Whale 3 to perform FEED (Front-End Engineering and Design) services for floater, mooring and inter-array cables.HHI is now collaborating in a task force with the BadaEnergy team and Vestas (Selected as Preferred Wind Turbines Supplier for Gray Whale 3) with the aim to continue optimising design and industrialising the execution plan of the fabrication of the 33 hulls, the integration of the turbines and the installation to the site.The Ulsan floating offshore wind projects (project name: Gray Whale 1,2,3) aim to construct 1.5-gigawatt in public waters about 60 kilometers east of Ulsan Port, targeting to start phased construction from 2025 and begin the first commercial operation in 2028. Once the project’s third phase is completed, the wind farm is expected to be one of the world’s largest floating offshore wind farms.With the selection of the preferred bidder, BadaEnergy will be able to rapidly implement its strategy of localising all stages of offshore wind projects. As offshore structures are one of the key facilities in offshore wind development, HHI, which has extensive experience in the construction and fabrication of offshore plants such as FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) and platforms, is expected to sharpen its competitive edge and export its technologies to the overseas market by participating in Korea’s first and one of the world’s largest floating offshore wind projects.BadaEnergy also relocated its office to a larger one in Songjeong-dong, Buk-gu, Ulsan, in order to facilitate faster and more efficient communication with local municipalities, local stakeholders and local supply chains. The ceremony to mark the opening of BadaEnergy’s new Ulsan office held on November 2 was attended by 50 distinguished guests from offshore wind industry in Ulsan, including the Ulsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, HHI, Vestas, and local supply chains.In addition, when Ulsan is designated as a specialised area for distributed energy, floating offshore wind projects, including the Gray Whale projects, can serve as future growth engines that will create jobs and promote revitalisation of the local economy.BadaEnergy's co-Representative Director Woojin Choi stated that “We believe this is one of the most significant milestones in our great journey towards floating offshore wind. To achieve the global net-zero target by 2050, more than 2,000 GW of offshore wind projects need to be built globally (which represents a market of KRW 12,000 trillion), with the majority being floating offshore wind.  Korea’s supply chain participating in our floating offshore wind projects will have an excellent opportunity to enter the global floating offshore wind market. Also, we believe our floating offshore wind projects in Ulsan will help Ulsan City achieve its net zero targets and be designated as a Special District for Distributed Energy, attracting innovative companies that require a renewable energy source for electricity.”“TotalEnergies and HHI have built a strong partnership by carrying out a variety of projects in the oil and gas sector since 2000, and based on this mutual trust, HHI has successfully performed FEED work, bolstering a win-win partnership,” Gray Whale 3’s Project Director Guillaume Le Maréchal said. “As it happened 25 years ago with Oil and Gas, we are convinced that the floating offshore wind project in Ulsan will serve as an example of a revival of the local economy and the best practice of Korea’s technological prowess being widely recognized overseas, by creating synergy with local companies centered on Ulsan to establish local supply chain of offshore wind.”HHI’s Head of Sales Operations Seung-yong Park said, “We are very pleased to have been selected as the preferred EPC bidder in one of the world’s largest floating offshore wind projects. Wind is Our Energy - Bada ONE team offsite [2023.11.1] BadaEnergy recently had three days of workshop in Taipei, Taiwan to foster harmony and collaboration. The Bada ONE team had the opportunity to visit Formosa 2, an impressive Offshore Wind Farm project in Taiwan jointly developed by GIG(Green Investment Group) with a capacity of 376MW. This visit not only allowed the team to witness the potential of the offshore wind but also strengthened BadaEnergy's commitment to renewable energy in Korea. In addition to the site visit, we engaged in team building activities and held a discussion session between the teams to integrate valuable insights. The workshop and site visit served as a powerful motivation for the Bada ONE team to take the lead in the transition to green energy!

This event is a popular summer attraction for visitors to enjoy the fresh seasonal specialities and beautiful scenery of the two Islands, which have been selected as one of Yeosu’s top 10 scenic spots. Geomundo Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd., which is promoting a 500 MW offshore wind farm off the west coast of Geomundo in Yeosu, sponsored the successful hosting of this local festival with a long history in Yeosu, and shared quality time with the residents who have been working hard for regional development. The event featured performances of ‘Geomundo Boating Song,’ the intangible cultural property of the South Jeolla Province, and samulnori, the traditional percussion performance. Attendees had the chance to experience the beautiful seaside scenery of the two islands and enjoy delicious seafood and explore a promotion center for marine products and mugwort grown in the sea breeze of the Geomundo. BadaEnergy conducts carbon neutrality education campaign ‘Together with Ocean’ at Ulsan Myeongchon Elementary School

 “Let’s learn the importance of carbon neutrality through education and terrarium-making” BadaEnergy conducts carbon neutrality education campaign ‘Together with Ocean’ at Ulsan Myeongchon Elementary School   •        In collaboration with the National Ocean Science Museum, BadaEnergy conducted a carbon neutrality education campaign, ‘Together with Ocean’, at Ulsan Myeongchon Elementary School. •        The 2nd campaign, part of local ESG programs, designed for future generations, including elementary school students, to learn about carbon neutrality and marine environmental protection.  [2023. 07. 03] BadaEnergy, a joint portfolio developing offshore wind projects in South Korea developed by Corio Generation, TotalEnergies and SK ecoplant, announced on July 3 that it conducted the campaign, titled ‘Together with Ocean,’ where students can learn the significance of carbon neutrality and marine environmental protection, at Ulsan Myeongchon Elementary School in collaboration with the National Ocean Science Museum (Director Seo Jang-wu).  The campaign ‘Together with Ocean (Subtitled: Net Zero Emissions #We Promise You #We are With You)’ is a local ESG program designed for future generations, including elementary school students fighting against climate crisis, to learn about carbon neutrality and marine environmental protection. This campaign has been sponsored by BadaEnergy, promoting the floating offshore wind projects located off the coast of Ulsan Metropolitan City for two consecutive years.  The ‘Together with Ocean’ campaign, comprised of two sessions, was held on June 29 and 30 for four classes of six graders with Carbon Diet Week at Myeongchon Elementary School, which was designated as ‘Core School for Carbon-Neutrality’ from 2022 to 2023 by the six ministries including the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Education. During the first session, the National Ocean Science Museum (KOSM), the only institution in Korea that offers education and exhibitions of marine science, conducted the ‘Zero carbon emission’ class focused on enhancing the awareness of blue carbon and the importance of the ocean for carbon neutrality by playing a game with the coding robot ‘Ozobot.’ The second session was a hands-on education program titled ‘Making a DIY terrarium’ prepared by BadaEnergy, where the students experienced a small marine ecosystem composed of whales in the sea of Ulsan and Ionantha air plants. Through a lecture and these hands-on activities, the participating students recognized the significance of protecting marine environment and achieving carbon neutrality.  The experience stimulated the students to pledge  continued interest and greater efforts to participate in  environmental activities.  BadaEnergy said: “We find it very rewarding to be able to raise interest and curiosity of young minds in the concept of carbon neutrality through the use of marine energy and conservation of marine ecosystem.  This is our  second campaign with KOSM, following last year’s success. We aim to engage with and communicate with the local communities and continue to develop various educational programs for future generations.” The National Ocean Science Museum said: “We are grateful to BadaEnergy for providing a great educational opportunity to let students know that oceans play an important role in carbon neutrality. We also plan to further expand this education program in upcoming September, starting from Ulsan Myeongchon Elementary School.”  Centering on Ulsan, BadaEnergy continuously expands ESG activities for a sustainable future and co-prospering development with the local community. Last year, it sponsored the eco-friendly program ‘Eco Mom!
